Hi, I’m clinton
I am a performing artist and educator whose passions live in theatre, music, and dance.
My experience includes performing on Broadway, choreographing award-winning new works, teaching voice lessons for professional artists, assisting directors on new works, music directing at colleges, and more.
I value collaboration, transparency, and kindness.
A bit more info:
Though I was born in Connecticut, and have moved more than 20+ times in my life, New York City is now the place I have lived the longest! I’m so happy to call NYC my home.
Starting theatre and choir at a young age and joining the various programs as I transferred schools, arts programs became the places where I found friendships as my family moved between CT, NY, AZ, and CA.
My dance training began with Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary. Starting with Rock Theatre under the incredible Julie Bond, I continued training at Millenium Dance Complex and Edge Performing Arts in LA.
After completing my BFA in Musical Theatre with a Dance Minor at Millikin University, I began working immediately as a performer. A fun start to my career was Shannon Doherty and my fellow cast of 90210 singing Happy Birthday to me on set during my 20th birthday!
I have performed musicals regionally (favorites: Bobby - Urinetown, Cat in the Hat - Seussical, Swing - Mary Poppins [Regional Premiere], Ens/Rusty US - Starlight Express,) toured the country (playing 5 different roles in Cats, Swing - West Side Story), and ultimately made my broadway debut in The Book of Mormon. I expanded my time with Mormon by swinging all 3 productions that were running simultaneously, and loved jumping between companies!
I then pursued a more music-focused chapter of my career. Diving into the role of Musical Director for college productions (Bernarda Alba, Spring Awakening), my early piano training also supported me as I spent the next few years becoming a Voice Teacher, working with both professionals on Broadway and blossoming young artists.
Recently, I completed my MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University. During my time in San Diego, I performed for the opening of the new Rady Shell at Jacob’s Park, singing backup for Norm Lewis, Kelli O’Hara, Adrienne Warren, and Megan Hilty. Additionally, the incredible Teatro San Diego hosted my graduate capstone piece, Body Talk. A new work of dance-focused storytelling, the work went on to win awards at the San Diego Fringe Festival.
My graduate thesis and continued research are focused on improving the health and function of relationships in artistic education. My continued development includes anti-oppressive facilitation training with AORTA and resilience practice with Lumos Transforms, both supporting and expanding my research and leadership capabilities in the classroom.
Returning to my home in NYC, I’m working to use all of my multi-disciplinary skills! First, I Assistant Directed and Choreographed for Ma-Yi’s production Once Upon A (korean) Time, supporting Director Ralph Peña and Playwright Daniel K. Issac. Then I Choreographed and Music Directed Short Stacks 2, a co-pro with Ma-Yi Theater and Second Generation. As an educator, I have joined Pace University as a voice teacher in their musical theatre program while also teaching Musical Theatre Dance and Jazz at Sacred Heart University.
Joining the team at BroadwayVox was the clearest next decision in my journey. I’m so proud to learn from and teach beside the brilliant and kind team led by Joey Harrell and Jared Trudeau.
