New Teaching Position
This week I begin teaching at Sacred Heart University. Let’s go!
I’ll be teaching Dance in Musical Theatre II. I was able to construct a course that is a combination of dance class and artistic debate.
Every Friday, I will lead my students through a mix of canonical choreography and my own pieces. Bringing in movement from incredible artists like Agnes de Mille, George Faison, Camille A. Brown, and Andy Blankenbuhler will let the students experience challenging sequences that have existed on Broadway stages. We will also learn some of my own choreography, which comes out as a blend of jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary.
The latter portion of each class will be focused on giving the students tools to clarify and fortify their own sense of self. This will feed directly into how they interact with art (others and their own) in both digestion and critique.
Very excited!
